The Spelman College music department is an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Music. The department has an active chapter of Pi Kappa Lambda National Music Honor Society. Spelman College is only the third college in Georgia, and the first historically Black college or university, to join a prestigious group of institutions designated as All-Steinway Schools.

Quinyae Sturdivant c‘2012

In the Fall Semester of 2010, Quinyae Sturdivant was given the opportunity to participate in the Spelman College Domestic Exchange program in partnership with The New School University Eugene Lang College in New York. Angelica Grays c‘2011

Angelica Grays, has put in labor as an ambassador for the music department at Spelman College. Most recently, in September of 2010 she was the soprano representative in the 105 Voices of History National Concert Choir; the choir features one student from each Historically Black College and University in the nation. Dawn Garvin Administrative Assistant

Dawn Garvin has been the administrative assistant for the past nine years and has done an excellent job working with students, faculty, and staff. Ms. Garvin is the one behind the scenes making sure that everything is in its place and ready, especially during the times of the Christmas Carol Concert and the tours of the Spelman College Glee Club and the Spelman College Jazz Ensemble. The Department of Music wishes to thank Dawn Garvin for her hard work and dedication.
